Charter Types

Every group moves for a different reason, and the transport that suits a 6am FIFO gate run is not the transport that suits a wedding reception finishing at midnight. These are the eight charter types we run most often. Each page covers how that charter is usually planned, what tends to drive the cost, and the vehicle sizes that fit best. If your job sits between two of them, ring us and describe it — we quote from the run sheet, not from a category.

How to choose the right charter type

The category matters less than the shape of the day, so start with three questions. How many people are moving at once? A 21-seat minibus handles a bridal party or an executive team; a 57-seat coach is the point at which a whole school year level or a conference stream travels together. How many pick-ups and how far apart are they? Multiple stops across a city are normal, but each one adds ten to fifteen minutes and shapes whether you need one big vehicle or two smaller ones. Is the return time fixed or open? A wedding or concert with an uncertain finish is quoted with a waiting allowance; a school run or mine gate transfer runs to the minute.

From there the charter types split along practical lines. Corporate, school and mining work is timetable-driven: the quote is built around driver hours, positioning and repeat frequency, and the paperwork — accreditation, driver authorisation, working-with-children checks where required — is part of the job. Weddings, private functions and concerts and events are occasion-driven: what matters is the run sheet, the venue access and getting everyone home at the end of the night. Sporting charters sit in between, with gear, supporters and sometimes an overnight stay to factor in.

What every charter quote includes

Whichever page you land on, the quote is built the same way: an accredited driver, a vehicle sized to the group with luggage or equipment space accounted for, fuel and tolls itemised, and any waiting time or overnight positioning shown as separate lines rather than folded into a headline rate. If a requirement changes — a second pick-up, a later finish, a wheelchair-accessible vehicle — we re-quote the line that changed, not the whole job. There is no self-drive hire; every vehicle comes with a driver whose hours are managed under the national heavy-vehicle fatigue rules.

Charters across Australia

All eight charter types are available in each of the cities we cover: Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Each city page covers the local detail that changes the plan — airport bus bays, event-day road closures, venue coach access — and the fleet page lists every vehicle size with seat counts.

Charter type questions

Which charter type should I book if my event has more than one part?

Book the one that matches the largest movement of people and tell us about the rest. A wedding with an airport pick-up the day before, or a conference with an offsite dinner, is quoted as one run sheet with each leg costed separately, so nothing is double-counted and the driver hours are planned across the whole job.

Is there a minimum hire period for a charter?

Most charters are quoted on a minimum of three to four hours because positioning the vehicle and driver to your first pick-up takes time regardless of the trip length. Short point-to-point transfers such as airport runs are quoted as a fixed price rather than by the hour.

Do you provide a driver with every charter?

Yes. Every vehicle is supplied with a professional, accredited driver, and we do not offer self-drive hire. Driver hours are managed under the national heavy-vehicle fatigue rules, which is why long or late-finishing jobs sometimes need a second driver or a rest break built into the plan.

Can the same vehicle be booked for regular runs?

Yes. Corporate shuttles, school runs and mine-site changeovers are often booked as recurring services on a weekly or term-length schedule, which is priced differently from a one-off charter. Tell us the frequency when you enquire and we will quote it that way.

Are wheelchair-accessible vehicles available for every charter type?

Accessible vehicles can be booked for any charter type, though the number available in each city is limited, so the earlier you flag the requirement the more choice there is. Our guide to accessible charter transport explains what to ask for and how the boarding process works.
