Brisbane's big event venues are either a long way from where people stay — the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall is 16 kilometres from the CBD — or in the middle of streets that close the moment the event starts, as Riverstage, Suncorp Stadium and the Showgrounds do. A group shuttle solves the getting-there problem and, more importantly, the getting-home problem after 11pm when the rideshare surge pricing and the taxi queues kick in. Venues and how each one works for coaches
The Entertainment Centre at Boondall has proper coach parking and a marshalled exit, which makes it the easiest large venue in the city for a group; the run from the CBD is via the Gateway or Sandgate Road and takes 25 to 40 minutes depending on the hour. Riverstage in the City Botanic Gardens has no vehicle access at all — set-down is on Alice Street or Gardens Point Road and the group walks in. Suncorp Stadium and the Gabba close their surrounding streets and run timed coach set-down windows. The RNA Showgrounds at Bowen Hills, home to the Ekka in August and several festivals, has a coach zone on Gregory Terrace. Fortitude Music Hall, the Tivoli and the Princess Theatre are inner-city venues with no bus zone, so the pick-up is a nominated side street with a clear meeting point.
The post-event pick-up is the part that matters. We give every group a named pick-up spot a few streets from the venue, the driver is there ahead of the finish, and the vehicle waits rather than circling. For a 40,000-seat stadium event that walk-out can take half an hour and the quote allows for it.
Festival and multi-day event shuttles
Festival shuttles are timetable jobs: a loop between a car park, transport hub or accommodation and the gate, running at a set frequency through the arrival and departure peaks. In and around Brisbane that includes the Showgrounds festivals, events at Victoria Park, the Ekka's ten days, and the regional festivals within a couple of hours that need a Brisbane pick-up — the Scenic Rim, the Sunshine Coast hinterland and the Gold Coast. Riverfire, New Year and the Ekka
Riverfire in September and New Year's Eve close the river bridges and most of the CBD to traffic for hours, and the public-transport system is at capacity. A private shuttle to a vantage point — Kangaroo Point, Wilson Outlook, a South Bank function — and back to the suburbs afterwards is booked out weeks ahead. The Ekka runs daily shuttles from suburban meeting points to the Showgrounds and back, which is often booked by community groups, aged-care facilities and companies taking staff for a day.
Sizing and cost
Concert groups are mostly minibus- and midi-coach-sized: 12 to 30 people from a workplace, a club or a family. Corporate hospitality packages at Suncorp or the Gabba tend to be one 21-seater per suite. Festival shuttles scale to 48- and 57-seat coaches. At the coach parking on site, which is marshalled after the show. The driver will be at the vehicle before the finish and you will have the bay number before you go in.
Can you get a bus close to Riverstage?
No vehicle can; the set-down and pick-up are on Alice Street or Gardens Point Road with a short walk through the gardens. We give the group a named meeting point and the driver is there before the finish.
Do you run shuttles for the Ekka?

What if the concert runs late?
Waiting time is quoted with an allowance, and if the event runs beyond it the extra is charged at the hourly rate on the quote. The driver stays until the group is on board.
