The Gold Coast is built for the group day out, and most of the private-function charters we run here are exactly that: a birthday touring the breweries from Burleigh to Currumbin, a hens day at the Tamborine wineries, a family group at the theme parks, a reunion doing a Broadwater cruise and a dinner in Broadbeach, a workplace night out in Surfers. What they share is a spread-out group, a plan with several stops, and a need for a driver who stays with it all day or all night.
Nights out in Surfers and Broadbeach
A typical evening collects from three or four addresses between Coolangatta and Coomera, delivers to a restaurant in Broadbeach, Burleigh or Surfers, waits or repositions, moves the group on, and does a final drop-off round after midnight. We quote it as one job with waiting time itemised, which is nearly always cheaper than separate transfers. Surfers Paradise's core streets — Cavill Avenue, Orchid Avenue and the esplanade — have no bus access after dark and Broadbeach's Surf Parade is a set-down-only zone, so pick-up points are a street back and the group has a clear meeting spot before the night starts. During Schoolies in late November the whole Surfers precinct is managed differently and we plan around it.
Vehicle choice follows the group and the streets: 12 to 20 people fit a minibus that can get into a Burleigh or Mermaid Beach side street; 30 or more is a midi coach, which is easier on the highway and harder in the beachside grid. No open alcohol on board is a Queensland licensing rule for all charter operators.
Brewery, winery and distillery loops
The coast's breweries sit in light-industrial estates a few streets inland — Burleigh Brewing and Black Hops in Burleigh Heads, Balter in Currumbin, Lost Palms and Precinct in Miami, Black Hops' larger Biggera Waters site to the north — and a brewery loop is a short-hop run of three or four stops where the bus is mostly waiting. Most taprooms open Thursday to Sunday and close early in the evening, so a Saturday afternoon loop is the standard shape. Coach access varies by estate; several suit a minibus rather than a coach, and we confirm before quoting.
Hinterland days go up Tamborine Mountain to the cellar doors, the two distilleries and the cheese producers, with lunch in the middle, and the access roads limit the largest vehicles. A Scenic Rim loop toward Mount Cotton and Canungra is the alternative for a bigger group that needs a full-size coach.
Theme parks, day trips and family groups
Group days at Movie World and Wet'n'Wild at Oxenford, Dreamworld at Coomera and Sea World at Main Beach are a drop at the coach set-down in the morning and a collection at close, with the vehicle released in between unless the group wants it held. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, a Broadwater cruise from Marina Mirage or a Springbrook waterfall drive are the other regular day trips. Family reunions and community groups with older passengers can request a low-step or lift-equipped vehicle; there are fewer of them and they book ahead.
What to send for a quote
Pick-up addresses, the venues in order, the times you need to be at each and the group size. From that we size the vehicle, plan around whatever is happening on the coast that day, and quote driver hours, kilometres and waiting time as separate lines. The guides to choosing the right vehicle size and what drives charter cost explain the trade-offs.
Private Functions in Gold Coast: questions
Can we drink on the bus for a hens or bucks day?
No open alcohol on board; it is a Queensland rule for every charter operator. The driver moves the group between venues and gets everyone home, which is the reason to book one.
Do you do brewery tours of Burleigh and Currumbin?
We provide the transport and confirm coach access at each brewery; you book the venues directly. Most taprooms open Thursday to Sunday and close early evening, so plan an afternoon loop.
Can the bus pick up from Coolangatta and Coomera on the same run?
Yes, though that is nearly 50 kilometres end to end and each stop adds time. For a group spread the length of the coast we suggest a southern, central and northern meeting point.
Do you drop at the theme parks?
Yes, at each park's coach set-down in the morning with a collection at close. The vehicle can be held for the day if the group wants to move between parks.
